About Us
Damen Services provides a broad portfolio of services for the entire life cycle of a ship built by Damen. This includes the handling of warranty calls, delivery of vessels, training crew members, delivery of spare parts, providing maintenance, and execute modifications & repairs. Damen Services' mission is to support the sales organization of Damen in selling vessels by providing additional value in the form of services.
After the sale of a ship, excellent services are delivered in order to increase the likelihood that a customer will choose Damen again to buy a ship for replacement or expansion. At the operational level, the Services department maintains contact with clients and is the eyes and ears of the sales organization.

The role
We are looking for a new colleague with strong administrative skills to act as a Credit Controller for the division Damen Services. Damen Services consists of our head office, based in the Netherlands, and several Service Hubs located across the globe. In this role you are working together with the sales representatives, Area Services Managers, and the controllers of our division. You will also work together with colleagues from the Financial Shared Service Centre who are providing the required tooling for the execution of our debt collection procedure.
You contribute to the success of Damen Services B.V. by working together with the account managers on collecting the outstanding receivables. You carefully balance the interests of collecting the outstanding receivables and the continued relationship with our valued customers.
This position is an excellent opportunity to be the linking pin between the commercial and financial disciplines of our division. The Credit Controller will be reporting to the Financial Controller of Damen Services and has a key role in embedding the debt collection procedure in our organization and support all the sales representatives in optimizing the Credit Manager Tool (OnGuard).
Key Accountabilities
Implement – together with Finance team - daily credit control operations focusing on receivables management, reaching out to customers and internal stakeholders to manage the accounts receivable position and to mitigate risk when necessary;
Closely working together with internal account managers to balance client relationship and the collection of outstanding receivables;
Preparation of account statements, sending out (pre) reminders, performing collection calls, dispute initiation and monitoring;
Maintaining and fostering good working relationships with colleagues to resolve issues together, structurally improve core processes and contribute to an improved result;
Identifying risks and areas for improvement with the goal of preventing bad debt and decreasing ageing receivables together with all commercial responsibilities.
Skills & Experience
Educational level: minimum completed MBO level;
Work experience: 0-3 years relevant experience and eager to learn;
Strong communication and inter-personal skills, motivated to be part of an enthusiastic team;
Accurate and well-structured;
An attitude that is naturally assertive;
Fluent in English and Dutch; French or Spanish is a plus;
Preferably some knowledge and experience with OnGuard (or similar tool) and MS Excel;
Team player: flexible and able to work within a dynamic work environment;
Availability 24-32 hours/week.
