💻 What does a Patent Examiner do?
Patent examiners come from diverse backgrounds in science, research, and engineering. They embark on their new roles at the EPO by dedicating their first year to mastering legal knowledge, all while receiving full pay. Patent examiners play a crucial role in helping inventors and innovative businesses protect their innovations in the contracting states of the European Patent Convention (EPC) and around the world, by examining patent applications to decide on applicants' potentially most valuable asset: the patentability of their invention.
