Building the sustainable markets of tomorrow
All over the world the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals must be achieved. These global challenges call for innovation, private entrepreneurship, and public leadership. We believe Dutch (linked) business can offer solutions to make the world a better place. It is our purpose to foster these solutions and make the necessary investments feasible.
We are Invest International, we invest in Dutch solutions for global challenges. Nice to meet you!
Our hybrid business model enables us to support both governments and businesses by providing capital as well as project development capacity. We help to make the more difficult investments in innovative solutions financeable. Yet, in everything we do we live ‘impact first’.
Organization
Invest International opened its doors in October 2021, in The Hague. We are a state-owned company set-up by the Dutch government. A private company funded with public capital. We are a new organisation and are continuously developing. Our people are aligned with our mission and our 7 people drivers guide the way we work together.
Private Sector Business Unit
Besides its on-balance activities, the Private Sector Business Unit carries out various programs and schemes for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Development Cooperation (BHOS) aimed at financing international activities of Dutch companies.
The unit Private Sector consists of three client teams:
SME & Mid. Corporates
Large corporates/Structured Finance
Equity
The Large Corporate/Structured Finance team consists of approximately 10 experts from 5 nationalities with knowledge and expertise in the field of international finance in emerging and developing countries. The products typically consist of Investment loans, export finance loans, and project finance structures. The projects are mostly complex where the risks are too high for commercial financiers to step in. In structuring, the team works closely together with other institutions such as export credit agencies, development banks and multilateral organizations. Our financial solutions are centered around the international activities of Dutch entrepreneurs that contribute to the earning capacity of the Netherlands and sustainable international and local development: the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
The number of loans of the team is steadily growing and requires a full-time focus on the daily monitoring and reviewing supporting the Investment Managers.
The position and responsibilities
The position is a full-time role as a Portfolio manager supporting the team in managing the existing transactions in the portfolio. The activities consist of handling the daily information coming in with respect to existing loans as receiving and analyzing financial information (e.g. annual reports, covenant checks), writing reviews for the Invest International credit committees, analyzing waiver requests, and ensuring timely reporting to e.g. credit risk insurers. Furthermore, you will assist the manager in compiling management information and help in updating and reviewing internal processes. You work closely together with the investment managers in the team responsible for the clients involved in the respective loans but also with other teams in the organization such as Risk, Reporting, Finance, etc. You have direct contact with clients on the files in the portfolio and from time to time will need to travel to the projects.
You will be part of the SF team but will have direct interaction with the pool of Investment analysts working in the SME & Mid Corporates team. Within that pool of colleagues, you are a sparring partner and you will be able to share or take over work from each other.

In addition to basic knowledge of finance and economics, a curious and proactive attitude towards entrepreneurs who want to invest in developing and emerging countries is crucial. You have completed academic education, preferably in the field of finance, economics, business economics, law, or business administration with at least 4 years of work experience. Work experience in the field of portfolio management will compensate for education other than what is listed above.
Furthermore, the ideal candidate has the following skills and competencies:
